THE DAILY FOUNTAIN DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF THE CHURCH OF NIGERIA (ANGLICAN COMMUNION)

DATE: MONDAY, 27TH DECEMBER, 2021 (ST JOHN'S DAY)

TOPIC: YOU CAN BE JOHN TOO

TEXT: JOHN 21:19-24

19.  This He spoke, signifying by what death he would glorify God. And when He had spoken this, He said to him, "Follow Me."
20.  Then Peter, turning around, saw the disciple whom Jesus loved following, who also had leaned on His breast at the supper, and said, "Lord, who is the one who betrays You?"
21.  Peter, seeing him, said to Jesus, "But Lord, what [about] this man?"
22.  Jesus said to him, "If I will that he remain till I come, what [is that] to you? You follow Me."
23.  Then this saying went out among the brethren that this disciple would not die. Yet Jesus did not say to him that he would not die, but, "If I will that he remain till I come, what [is that] to you?"
24.  This is the disciple who testifies of these things, and wrote these things; and we know that his testimony is true.

MESSAGE:
In this passage, Jesus restored Peter to the work of ministry with a summary statement to "follow me!" Peter understood that it meant to follow even unto death. But turning around and seeing John-the disciple whom the Lord loved, Peter asked Jesus what would happen to John. John was described as the one whom Jesus loved; maybe it was because he cultivated a deeper relationship with Jesus than others.

John was never satisfied just to be a disciple. He sat where others did not sit (John 13:23), heard the Lord's heart beat and felt the warmth of His love! John followed and stood where others did not (John 19:25-27), close to Calvary and had the privilege of taking the mother of Jesus home to stay with him and living with her as her son! It was John who also identified the Lord when He stood on the shore and asked if they had any fish (John 21:7). It was of John that Jesus said what would happen to him is none of Peter's business. John was one of the disciples but chose to be different from others. You too can be a disciple whom Jesus loves if you choose to take your relationship with Him deeper like John, through prayers, study, obedience to His will and choosing to please Him above all things.

PRAYER:
Lord Jesus, help me love You more and more. Amen.

EXCERPTS FROM: 24/7 WARFARE PRAYERS AND SUPERNATURAL BREAKTHROUGH MANUAL

INTRODUCTION Right from childhood, the number “SEVEN” has always been an intrigue, an interesting puzzle, a fascination, and a great phenomenon to me. I was actually born on the seventh day of the month; perhaps this was one of the reasons why something leaps inside of me whenever I see the number. But as I grew up in the Christian faith I began to see a regular reference to it the scriptures. I was kind of saying, whoa! Holy bliss! Seven occurs 257 times, or 7 × 41 Seventh, the fractional part occurs 98 times or 7× 14 Seven –fold occurs 7 times. Seventy occurs 56 times or 7× 8 “Seventy” in combination with other numbers occurs 35 times or 7× 5. God is pleased to stamp the number “Seven” with the seal of perfection and completeness. God never down played the importance of the number, because it was the number of God. It is a carrier of God’s mysteries. It pleased God that, the Seventh man from Adam – Enoch sh
