THE DAILY FOUNTAIN DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF THE CHURCH OF NIGERIA (ANGLICAN COMMUNION)

DATE: TUESDAY, 14TH DECEMBER, 2021

TOPIC: GOD'S REQUIREMENT

TEXT: MICAH 6:6-16

6.  With what shall I come before the LORD, [And] bow myself before the High God? Shall I come before Him with burnt offerings, With calves a year old?

7.  Will the LORD be pleased with thousands of rams, Ten thousand rivers of oil? Shall I give my firstborn [for] my transgression, The fruit of my body [for] the sin of my soul?

8.  He has shown you, O man, what [is] good; And what does the LORD require of you But to do justly, To love mercy, And to walk humbly with your God?

9.  The LORD's voice cries to the city -- Wisdom shall see Your name: "Hear the Rod! Who has appointed it?

10.  Are there yet the treasures of wickedness In the house of the wicked, And the short measure [that is] an abomination?

11.  Shall I count pure [those] with the wicked scales, And with the bag of deceitful weights?

12.  For her rich men are full of violence, Her inhabitants have spoken lies, And their tongue is deceitful in their mouth.

13.  "Therefore I will also make [you] sick by striking you, By making [you] desolate because of your sins.

14.  You shall eat, but not be satisfied; Hunger [shall be] in your midst. You may carry [some] away, but shall not save [them;] And what you do rescue I will give over to the sword.

15.  "You shall sow, but not reap; You shall tread the olives, but not anoint yourselves with oil; And [make] sweet wine, but not drink wine.

16.  For the statutes of Omri are kept; All the works of Ahab's house [are done;] And you walk in their counsels, That I may make you a desolation, And your inhabitants a hissing. Therefore you shall bear the reproach of My people."

MESSAGE:

Yesterday we began to take a look at what our proper response should be to God for salvation, and we identified it to be genuine appreciative worship.

Today, we identify another and yet they are related. With what should you really come before God? Give Him thousands of rams (proceeds from your business or employment)? Should it be fruit of your body (dedicating your children to His service)? Verse 5 points us to another desire of God concerning us. and indeed He has shown us. It is to do justly. Are you a just person? It is also to love mercy. Are you merciful? Do you show mercy to those you think do not deserve to be so treated? Recall that Jesus made it clear that the merciful are blessed because they alone 'qualify" for mercy, even God's mercy.

Finally, it is "to walk humbly with your God." Humility is fast becoming a scarce commodity in our generation. Many advertising practices and the social media are teaching us to project ourselves, in a sense, "sell" ourselves. We have even become very loud with our spiritual gifting, as if we did not receive them. Note that Scripture is clear that God will not walk with the proud and the scornful. Humble yourself to walk with God.

PRAYER:

Dear Lord, please give me a humble heart that loves mercy.

EXCERPTS FROM: 24/7 WARFARE PRAYERS AND SUPERNATURAL BREAKTHROUGH MANUAL

INTRODUCTION Right from childhood, the number “SEVEN” has always been an intrigue, an interesting puzzle, a fascination, and a great phenomenon to me. I was actually born on the seventh day of the month; perhaps this was one of the reasons why something leaps inside of me whenever I see the number. But as I grew up in the Christian faith I began to see a regular reference to it the scriptures. I was kind of saying, whoa! Holy bliss! Seven occurs 257 times, or 7 × 41 Seventh, the fractional part occurs 98 times or 7× 14 Seven –fold occurs 7 times. Seventy occurs 56 times or 7× 8 “Seventy” in combination with other numbers occurs 35 times or 7× 5. God is pleased to stamp the number “Seven” with the seal of perfection and completeness. God never down played the importance of the number, because it was the number of God. It is a carrier of God’s mysteries. It pleased God that, the Seventh man from Adam – Enoch sh
