TOPIC: THE DEVASTATING EFFECTS OF SIN

TEXT: MICAH 1:8-16

8.  Therefore I will wail and howl, I will go stripped and naked; I will make a wailing like the jackals And a mourning like the ostriches,
9.  For her wounds [are] incurable. For it has come to Judah; It has come to the gate of My people -- To Jerusalem.
10.  Tell [it] not in Gath, Weep not at all; In Beth Aphrah Roll yourself in the dust.
11.  Pass by in naked shame, you inhabitant of Shaphir; The inhabitant of Zaanan does not go out. Beth Ezel mourns; Its place to stand is taken away from you.
12.  For the inhabitant of Maroth pined for good, But disaster came down from the LORD To the gate of Jerusalem.
13.  O inhabitant of Lachish, Harness the chariot to the swift steeds (She [was] the beginning of sin to the daughter of Zion), For the transgressions of Israel were found in you.
14.  Therefore you shall give presents to Moresheth Gath; The houses of Achzib [shall be] a lie to the kings of Israel.
15.  I will yet bring an heir to you, O inhabitant of Mareshah; The glory of Israel shall come to Adullam.
16.  Make yourself bald and cut off your hair, Because of your precious children; Enlarge your baldness like an eagle, For they shall go from you into captivity.

MESSAGE:
The voice of Prophet Micah here represents the voice of God as He continues to lament over the sins of His people Israel and Judah. The reason God laments when His people betray Him by choosing the path of sin instead of the path of righteousness is because of His love for the people. He hates to see them suffer the devastating consequences of their own sinfulness. Sin, of whatever kind, comes with dire consequences on the sinner himself and on people close to him too.

Micah noted here that sin has the power of addiction (v.9). It grows until it turns the sinner into a perpetual prisoner. Therefore, one must deal with sin decisively by turning to Christ for help, else it will destroy him. Micah also noted that sin is like a virus; it can be contagious. From Israel it spread to Judah (v.9). Indeed, bad company corrupts good morals (1 Cor. 15:33). Children of God must learn to choose their associates, partners and friends, carefully and prayerfully.

Finally, the consequences of sin are many, such as shame, certain diseases, loss of confidence, and ultimately, eternal condemnation. Jesus Christ alone has the permanent cure to sin. Go to Him now!

PRAYER:
Lord, please help me to deal with every sin in my life today, and establish me in godliness. Amen.

EXCERPTS FROM: 24/7 WARFARE PRAYERS AND SUPERNATURAL BREAKTHROUGH MANUAL

INTRODUCTION Right from childhood, the number “SEVEN” has always been an intrigue, an interesting puzzle, a fascination, and a great phenomenon to me. I was actually born on the seventh day of the month; perhaps this was one of the reasons why something leaps inside of me whenever I see the number. But as I grew up in the Christian faith I began to see a regular reference to it the scriptures. I was kind of saying, whoa! Holy bliss! Seven occurs 257 times, or 7 × 41 Seventh, the fractional part occurs 98 times or 7× 14 Seven –fold occurs 7 times. Seventy occurs 56 times or 7× 8 “Seventy” in combination with other numbers occurs 35 times or 7× 5. God is pleased to stamp the number “Seven” with the seal of perfection and completeness. God never down played the importance of the number, because it was the number of God. It is a carrier of God’s mysteries. It pleased God that, the Seventh man from Adam – Enoch sh
