APPROPRIATING THE BENEFITS OF CHRIST’S ATONING DEATH - THE DAILY FOUNTAIN DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF THE CHURCH OF NIGERIA (ANGLICAN COMMUNION)

THE DAILY FOUNTAIN DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF THE CHURCH OF NIGERIA (ANGLICAN COMMUNION) DATE: THURSDAY, 31ST MARCH, 2022  TOPIC: APPROPRIATING THE BENEFITS OF CHRIST’S ATONING DEATH TEXT: HEBREWS 10:19-25  19.  Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, 20.  by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh, 21.  and [having] a High Priest over the house of God, 22.  let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. 23.  Let us hold fast the confession of [our] hope without wavering, for He who promised [is] faithful. 24.  And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, 25.  not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as [is] the manner of some, but exhorting [one another,] and so much the more as you see the Day approaching. JESUS CHRIST THE PERFECT SACRIFICE - THE DAILY FOUNTAIN DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF THE CHURCH OF NIGERIA (ANGLICAN COMMUNION)

THE DAILY FOUNTAIN DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF THE CHURCH OF NIGERIA (ANGLICAN COMMUNION) DATE: WEDNESDAY, 30TH MARCH, 2022  TOPIC: JESUS CHRIST THE PERFECT SACRIFICE TEXT: HEBREWS 10:1-18 1. For the law, having a shadow of the good things to come, [and] not the very image of the things, can never with these same sacrifices, which they offer continually year by year, make those who approach perfect. 2. For then would they not have ceased to be offered? For the worshipers, once purified, would have had no more consciousness of sins. 3. But in those [sacrifices there is] a reminder of sins every year. 4. For [it is] not possible that the blood of bulls and goats could take away sins. 5.  Therefore, when He came into the world, He said: "Sacrifice and offering You did not desire, But a body You have prepared for Me. 6.  In burnt offerings and [sacrifices] for sin You had no pleasure. 7.  Then I said, 'Behold, I have come -- In the volume of the book it is written of Me -- To do You

Then indeed, even the first [covenant] had ordinances of divine service and the earthly sanctuary. 2. For a tabernacle was prepared: the first [part,] in which [was] the lampstand, the table, and the showbread, which is called the sanctuary; 3. and behind the second veil, the part of the tabernacle which is called the Holiest of All, 4. which had the golden censer and the ark of the covenant overlaid on all sides with gold, in which [were] the golden pot that had the manna, Aaron's rod that budded, and the tablets of the covenant; 5.  and above it were the cherubim of glory overshadowing the mercy seat. Of these things we cannot now speak in detail. 6.  Now when these things had been thus prepared, the priests always went into the first part of the tabernacle, performing [the services.] 7.  But into

And a man of the house of Levi went and took as wife a daughter of Levi.  2. So the woman conceived and bore a son. And when she saw that he was a beautiful child, she hid him three months.  3. But when she could no longer hide him, she took an ark of bulrushes for him, daubed it with asphalt and pitch, put the child in it, and laid it in the reeds by the river’s bank.  4. And his sister stood afar off, to know what would be done to him.  5. Then the daughter of Pharaoh came down to bathe at the river. And her maidens walked along the riverside; and when she saw the ark among the reeds, she sent her maid to get it.  6. And when she opened it, she saw the child, and behold, the baby wept. So she had compassion on him, and said, “This is one of the Hebrews’ children.”  7. Then his sister said to Phara

When he lets [you] go, he will surely drive you out of here altogether. 2. "Speak now in the hearing of the people, and let every man ask from his neighbor and every woman from her neighbor, articles of silver and articles of gold." 3. And the LORD gave the people favor in the sight of the Egyptians. Moreover the man Moses [was] very great in the land of Egypt, in the sight of Pharaoh's servants and in the sight of the people. 4. The virgin's name [was] Mary. 28.  And having come in, the angel said to her, "Rejoice, highly favored [one,] the Lord [is] with you; blessed [are] you among women!" 29.  But when she saw [him,] she was troubled at his saying, and considered what manner of greeting this was. 30.  Then the angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. 31.  "And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name JESUS. 32.  "He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him

Mothering Sunday: Origins and importance

The Mothering Sunday is a celebration of the Anglican Church from the early Church. It was originally a day to honour and give thanks to the Virgin Mary, also known as “Mother Mary”, for her agony as recorded in Luke 2:35. The Celebrations required people to visit their mother Church – the main Church or Cathedral in the family area. As Christianity spread through Europe in the 16th Century, the celebration increased and was included in the Church Calendar as Mothering Sunday; an Occasion to thank and appreciate all mothers as well as a family honoured reunion. It also became a celebration when children, especially the girls who had been away from home as domestic helps or apprentice had a day off to join their family and see their mothers. The Mothering Sunday is celebrated in the Anglican Church every Fourth Sunday in Lent, which is also three Sundays before Easter. Since it is celebrated mid Lent, it is also known as Refreshing Sunday, where fasting could be eased for the day and pe

So Moses and Aaron came in to Pharaoh and said to him, "Thus says the LORD God of the Hebrews: 'How long will you refuse to humble yourself before Me? Let My people go, that they may serve Me. 4. 'Or else, if you refuse to let My people go, behold, tomorrow I will bring locusts into your territory. 5.  'And they shall cover the face of the earth, so that no one will be able to see the earth; and they shall eat the residue of wha

So nothing shall die of all [that] belongs to the children of Israel."  5.  Then the LORD appointed a set time, saying, "Tomorrow the LORD will do this thing in the land." 6.  So the LORD did this thing on the next day, and all the livestock of Egypt died; but of the livesto

So when Jesus came, He found that he had already been in the tomb four days. 18. Now Bethany was near Jerusalem, about two miles away.  19. And many of the Jews had joined the women around Martha and Mary, to comfort them concerning their brother.  20. Now Martha, as soon as she heard that Jesus was coming, went and met Him, but Mary was sitting in the house.  21. Now Martha said to Jesus, “Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died.  22. But even now I know that whatever You ask of God, God will give You.” 23. Jesus said to her, “Your brother will rise again.”  24. Martha said to Him, “I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.”  25. Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. 26. And wh

Now a certain [man] was sick, Lazarus of Bethany, the town of Mary and her sister Martha. 2. It was [that] Mary who anointed the Lord with fragrant oil and wiped His feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick. 3. Therefore the sisters sent to Him, saying, "Lord, behold, he whom You love is sick." 4. When Jesus heard [that,] He said, "This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God may be glorified through it." 5.  Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus. 6.  So, when He heard that he was sick, He stayed two more days in the place where He was. 7.  Then after this He said to [the] disciples, "Let us go to Judea again." 8.  [The] disciples said to Him, "Rabbi, lately the Jews sought to stone You, and are You going there again?" 9.

Now [this is] the main point of the things we are saying: We have such a High Priest, who is seated at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens, 2. a Minister of the sanctuary and of the true tabernacle which the Lord erected, and not man. 3. For every high priest is appointed to offer both gifts and sacrifices. Therefore [it is] necessary that this One also have something to offer. 4. For if He were on earth, He would not be a priest, since there are priests who offer the gifts according to the law; 5.  who serve the copy and shadow of the heavenly things, as Moses was divinely instructed when he was about to make the tabernacle. For He said, "See [that] you make all things according to the pattern shown you on the mountain." 6.  But now He has obtained a more excell

Now consider how great this man [was,] to whom even the patriarch Abraham gave a tenth of the spoils. 5.  And indeed those who are of the sons of Levi, who receive the priesthood, have a commandment to receive tithes from the people according to the law, that is, from their brethren, though they have come from the loins of A
