Now in the second year of Nebuchadnezzar's reign, Nebuchadnezzar had dreams; and his spirit was [so] troubled that his sleep left him. 2. Then the king gave the command to call the magicians, the astrologers, the sorcerers, and the Chaldeans to tell the king his dreams. So they came and stood before the king. 3. And the king said to them, "I have had a dream, and my spirit is anxious to know the dream." 4. Then the Chaldeans spoke to the king in Aramaic, "O king, live forever! Tell your servants the dream, and we will give the interpretation." 5.  The king answered and said to the Chaldeans, "My decision is firm: if you do not make known the dream to me, and its interpretation, you shall be cut in pieces, and your houses shall be made an ash heap. 6.  "However, if you tel...

When he cried out, seven thunders uttered their voices. 4. Now when the seven thunders uttered their voices, I was about to write; but I heard a voice from heaven saying to me, "Seal up the things which the seven thunders uttered, and do not write them." 5. Then the fifth angel sounded: And I saw a star fallen from heaven to the earth. To him was given the key to the bottomless pit. 2. And he opened the bottomless pit, and smoke arose out of the pit like the smoke of a great furnace. So the sun and the air were darkened because of the smoke of the pit. 3. Then out of the smoke locusts came upon the earth. And to them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power. 4. They were commanded not to harm the grass of the earth, or any green thing, or any tree, but only those men who do not have the seal of God on their foreheads. 5. And they were not given [authority] to kill them, but to torment them [for] five months. Their torment [was] like the torment of a scorpion when it strikes a man. 6. Daily Fountain for 7th July, 2020

THE DAILY FOUNTAIN DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF THE CHURCH OF NIGERIA (ANGLICAN COMMUNION) DATE: TUESDAY 7TH JULY, 2020 TOPIC: CONTRADICTING THE GOSPEL TEXT: ACTS 13:44-52 44. On the next Sabbath almost the whole city came together to hear the word of God. 45. But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were filled with envy; and contradicting and blaspheming, they opposed the things spoken by Paul. 46. Then Paul and Barnabas grew bold and said, "It was necessary that the word of God should be spoken to you first; but since you reject it, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, behold, we turn to the Gentiles. 47. "For so the Lord has commanded us: 'I have set you as a light to the Gentiles, That you should be for salvation to the ends of the earth.' " 48. Now when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and glorified the word of the Lord. And as many as had been appointed to eternal life believed. 49. And the word of the Lord was being spread throug...

THE DAILY FOUNTAIN DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF THE CHURCH OF NIGERIA (ANGLICAN COMMUNION). TOPIC: THE LAW OF SOWING AND REAPING IS REAL!

THE DAILY FOUNTAIN DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF THE CHURCH OF NIGERIA (ANGLICAN COMMUNION) DATE: FRIDAY 8 JUNE, 2018 TOPIC: THE LAW OF SOWING AND REAPING IS REAL! TEXT: 1 KINGS 2:26-35 26. And to Abiathar the priest the king said, “Go to Anathoth, to your own fields, for you are deserving of death; but I will not put you to death at this time, because you carried the ark of the Lord God before my father David, and because you were afflicted every time my father was afflicted.” 27. So Solomon removed Abiathar from being priest to the Lord , that he might fulfill the word of the Lord which He spoke concerning the house of Eli at Shiloh. 28. Then news came to Joab, for Joab had defected to Adonijah, though he had not defected to Absalom. So Joab fled to the tabernacle of the Lord , and took hold of the horns of the altar. 29. And King Solomon was told, “Joab has fled to the tabernacle of the Lord ; there he  is, by the altar.” Then Solomon sent Benaiah the...

THE DAILY FOUNTAIN DAILY DEVOTIONAL OF THE CHURCH OF NIGERIA (ANGLICAN COMMUNION) FOR THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 7, 2017.

THE DAILY FOUNTAIN DAILY DEVOTIONAL OF THE CHURCH OF NIGERIA (ANGLICAN COMMUNION) DATE: THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 7, 2017. TOPIC: MORE INSTRUCTIONS FOR BELIEVERS TEXT: COLOSSIANS 4: 1-6 MESSAGE Superiors usually give instructions to those under them. The aim of such instructions is to enable those under them to perform their work well and to free them from possible problems. In the last chapter of this epistle, Paul gives six important instructions to children of God. First he enjoins Christians to treat those who work under them with fairness and equity, remembering that God is the master over all men. He also emphasized the need to live a life of thanksgiving, with fervent prayers and watchfulness. Our prayers should not only focus on our needs but also for the extension of the Kingdom of God. We are also to pray for boldness for ministers and evangelists as they labour in God’s vineyard. Paul also emphasized the need for wisdom in our daily lives as we relate with others especial...

THE DAILY FOUNTAIN DAILY DEVOTIONAL: BUILDING FOR GOD

THE DAILY FOUNTAIN DAILY DEVOTIONAL OF THE CHURCH OF NIGERIA (ANGLICAN COMMUNION)  DATE: TUESDAY AUGUST 22, 2017. TOPIC: BUILDING FOR GOD’S GLORY TEXT: EZRA 3: 8-11 MESSAGE It was fourteen months after the return from exile to Judah that the actual construction of the temple began. Levites were given the role of supervising the work. When the foundation of the temple was laid, the Priests and Levites sang praises with thanksgiving to the Lord, accompanied with musical instruments. Then all the people gave a great shout praising the Lord, because the foundation of the temple had been laid. While the younger generation was shouting for joy at what had been accomplished, many of the older generation wept aloud as they remembered the beauty of the old temple built by King Solomon. It is very important to build to the glory of God, whether the buildings are other projects. More importantly, we need to build our lives to the glory of God because as children of God, bought by...

THE DAILY FOUNTAIN DAILY DEVOTIONAL: HAVE CORRECT PRIORITIES

THE DAILY FOUNTAIN DAILY DEVOTIONAL OF THE CHURCH OF NIGERIA (ANGLICAN COMMUNION) DATE: MONDAY, AUGUST 21, 2017 TOPIC: HAVE CORRECT PRIORITIES TEXT: EZRA 3:1-7 MESSAGE The Jews who returned from exile gathered in unity in Jerusalem in the seventh month to celebrate the feast of Tabernacles. They had three major tasks before them namely: rebuilding the city, constructing the temple and rebuilding the altar of the· Lord. Under the leadership of Jeshua the high priest and Zerubbabel, they made the rebuilding of the altar their first priority. The altar was very important because of its central role in worshipping and offering sacrifices to God. Every Christian needs to have his/her priorities right. To worship, honour, and adore God ought to be the first priority in our lives. Unfortunately we spent time pursuing other priorities that involve meeting our needs even though Jesus gave this command in Matthew 6: 33: “….. Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousn...

The Daily Fountain Devotional For SUNDAY 20, 2017 - Choose Eternal Life

THE DAILY FOUNTAIN DAILY DEVOTIONAL OF THE CHURCH OF NIGERIA (ANGLICAN COMMUNION) DATE: SUNDAY 20, 2017 (TRINITY 10) TOPIC: CHOOSE ETERNAL LIFE! READ: MATTHEW 25: 31-46 MESSAGE: When the Son of Man comes in His glory, the sheep will be separated from the goats, the righteous from the unrighteous (v. 32). Other terms used for the same separation include the separation of the saints from the sinners, or the wheat from the tares (see Matt. 13: 30; Rev. 22: 14-15). From v. 46, we see that the righteous will be rewarded with eternal life, while the unrighteous will face the grim reality of eternal punishment! From vs. 40 & 45, we understand that a person is regarded as ''righteous'' or ''unrighteous'' based on what he did or failed to do while alive. Indeed, John 3: 36 declares: ''whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God's wrath remains on him''. While we cannot choose w...

THE DAILY FOUNTAIN DAILY DEVOTIONAL OF THE CHURCH OF NIGERIA (ANGLICAN COMMUNION): Rebuilding The Temple

THE DAILY FOUNTAIN DAILY DEVOTIONAL OF THE CHURCH OF NIGERIA (ANGLICAN COMMUNION) DATE: SATURDAY, AUGUST 19, 2017 TOPIC: REBUILDING THE TEMPLE READ: EZRA 2:64-70 MESSAGE In this passage, we see that the first batch of returnees from exile was carefully recorded (verses 64-66). Their servants and transport animals were also indicated (verses 65-66). In addition, major contributions for rebuilding the temple were specified (verse 69). In today's units of measurement, these freewill offerings amount to about 500 kilograms of gold and 2,900 kilograms of Silver! What will be their monetary values? Probably millions of naira! In verse 58, we note that only some of the family heads contributed towards the temple rebuilding effort. What must have prevented the other leaders from making their own contributions? See Haggai 1: 2 for possible answers. Consider your own contributions towards the work of God so far this year. Do you personally think they are reasonable, considering how th...

Anglicans worldwide invited to pray for their spiritual leader

Posted On : March 21, 2013 12:01 AM | Posted By : Admin ACO ACNS: http://www.aco.org/acns/news.cfm/2013/3/21/ACNS5364 By ACNS staff As Archbishop Justin Welby prepares for his inauguration in Canterbury today, the 85 million members of the Anglican Communion are being invited to pray for him and his ministry. The Anglican Communion Office has today issued a prayer that Anglicans and Episcopalians can say before Archbishop Welby becomes the 105th occupant of the Chair of St Augustine. Archbishop Welby’s Confirmation of Election took place in St Paul’s Cathedral in London on 4 February. That was a relatively low-key legal ceremony, whereas today’s service will include African dancers, Punjabi music, a Burundian blessing, and strong representation from the other main Christian Churches around the world. This makes plain the importance of the global Anglican Communion to the Archbishop of Canterbury, and the drive towards the deeper unity of all Christians. ENDS A praye...
