THE GOOD LAW WITH ITS BAD OUTCOME

THE DAILY FOUNTAIN DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF THE CHURCH OF NIGERIA (ANGLICAN COMMUNION) DATE: WEDNESDAY, 30TH NOVEMBER, 2022 (ST ANDREW’S DAY)  TOPIC: THE GOOD LAW WITH ITS BAD OUTCOME TEXT: ROMANS 10:1-18 1. Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is that they may be saved. 2. For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge. 3. For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted to the righteousness of God. 4. For Christ [is] the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes. 5. For Moses writes about the righteousness which is of the law, "The man who does those things shall live by them." 6. But the righteousness of faith speaks in this way, "Do not say in your heart, 'Who will ascend into heaven?' " (that is, to bring Christ down [from above)] 7. or, " 'Who will descend into the abyss?' " (that i

TEXT: MARK 10:17-27 17.  Now as He was going out on the road, one came running, knelt before Him, and asked Him, "Good Teacher, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?" 18.  So Jesus said to him, "Why do you call Me good? No one [is] good but One, [that is,] God. 19.  "You know the commandments: 'Do not commit adultery,' 'Do not murder,' 'Do not steal,' 'Do not bear false witness,' 'Do not defraud,' 'Honor your father and your mother.' " 20.  And he answered and said to Him, "Teacher, all these things I have kept from my youth." 21.  Then Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him, "One thing you lack: Go your way, sell whatever you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, take up the cross, a

THE KINGDOM OF GOD - THE CHILDREN’S INHERITANCE

THE DAILY FOUNTAIN DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF THE CHURCH OF NIGERIA (ANGLICAN COMMUNION) DATE: MONDAY, 28TH NOVEMBER, 2022  TOPIC: THE KINGDOM OF GOD - THE CHILDREN’S INHERITANCE TEXT: MARK 10:13-16 13.  Then they brought little children to Him, that He might touch them; but the disciples rebuked those who brought [them.] 14.  But when Jesus saw [it,] He was greatly displeased and said to them, "Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God. 15.  "Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it." 16.  And He took them up in His arms, put [His] hands on them, and blessed them. MESSAGE:  Jesus made a very instructive statement when he had to rebuke the disciples who were preventing the children from accessing Him. Apart from informing them of the centrality of children in the kingdom life, He was quick to let them know of the essential attitude for attaining the

Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the arm

And at that time your people shall be delivered, Every one who is found written in the book. 2. In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia a message was revealed to Daniel, whose name was called Belteshazzar. The message [was] true, but the appointed time [was] long; and he understood the message, and had understanding of the vision. 2. In those days I, Daniel, was mourning three full weeks. 3. I ate no pleasant food, no meat or wine came into my mouth, nor did I anoint myself at all, till three whole weeks were fulfilled. 4. Now on the twenty-fourth day of the first month, as I was by the side of the great river, that [is,] the Tigris, 5.  I lifted my eyes and looked, and behold, a certain man clothed in linen, whose waist [was] girded with gold of Uphaz! 6.  His body [was] like beryl, his face like the appearance of lightning, his eyes like torches of fire, his arms and feet like burnished bronze in colo

TEXT: ACTS 9:32-35 32. Now it came to pass, as Peter went through all [parts of the country,] that he also came down to the saints who dwelt in Lydda. 33. There he found a certain man named Aeneas, who had been bedridden eight years and was paralyzed. 34. And Peter said to him, "Aeneas, Jesus the Christ heals you. Arise and make your bed." Then he arose immediately. 35. So all who dwelt at Lydda and Sharon saw him and turned to the Lord.   MESSAGE:  In our text today, we see Aeneas who was bedridden for eight years and was paralysed. He got healed instantly through the prayer of Peter. Imagine how this man must have felt those eight years of helplessness. This was the case with blind Bartimaeus until he encountered Jesus and was asked to cheer up (Mark 10:46-52). Certainly, Aenea

Thy kingdom come o God

1. Thy kingdom come, O God! Thy rule, O Christ begin! Break with thine iron rod the tyrannies of sin! 2. Where is thy reign of peace, and purity and love? When shall all hatred cease, as in the realms above? 3. When comes the promised time that war shall be no more, and lust, oppression, crime shall flee thy face before? 4. We pray thee, Lord, arise, and come in thy great might; revive our longing eyes, which languish for thy sight. 5. Men scorn thy sacred Name, and wolves devour thy fold; by many deeds of shame we learn that love grows cold. 6. O'er heathen lands afar thick darkness broodeth yet: arise, O Morning Star, arise, and never set!

Nebuchadnezzar the king, To all peoples, nations, and languages that dwell in all the earth: Peace be multiplied to you. 2. I thought it good to declare the signs and wonders that the Most High God has worked for me. 3. How great [are] His signs, And how mighty His wonders! His kingdom [is] an everlasting kingdom, And His dominion [is] from generation to generation. 4. I, Nebuchadnezzar, was at rest in my house, and flourishing in my palace. 5.  I saw a dream which made me afraid, and the thoughts on my bed and the visions of my head troubled me. 6.  Therefore I issued a decree to bring in all the wise [men] of Babylon before me, that they might make known to me the interpretation of the dream. 7.  Then the magicians, the astrologers, the Chaldeans, and the soothsayers came in, and I told them the dream; but they

He spoke and commanded that they heat the furnace seven times more than it was usually heated. 20.  And he commanded certain mighty men of valor who [were] in his army to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, [and] cast [them] into the burning fiery furnace. 21.  Then these men were bound in their coats, their trousers, their turbans, and their [other] garments, and were cast into the midst of the burning fiery furnace. 22.  Therefore, because the king's command was urgent, and the furnace exceedingly hot, the flame of the fire killed those men who took up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego. 23.  And these three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, fell down bound into the midst of the burnin

Consider the content of the salutation: Peace from God by all means, the Lord be with you, the grace of our Lord Jesus be with you all (2 Thess. 3:16,18). MESSAGE: John makes it clear that there must be a connection to the source of answers to prayer and this comes through believing consistently in the name of Jesus. The foundational result is eternally released to those who believe. This channel produces the confidence to ask in prayer correctly. Prayers are heard when they are according to God’s will; again, remaining in Him brings the answer. So, th

Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may run [swiftly] and be glorified, just as [it is] with you, 2. and that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men; for not all have faith. 3. But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard [you] from the evil one. 4. And we have confidence in the Lord concerning you, both that you do and will do the things we command you. 5.  Now may the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God and into the patience of Christ. MESSAGE:   Paul’s words tear down any veneer of our culture’s hospitality towards God’s word. The fact of the matter is that God’s truths are antithetical at a fundamental level to every strain of popular belief. This helps us to understand why prayer is the most practical course of action in a faithless world

Let no one deceive you by any means; for [that Day will not come] unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition, 4. who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God. 5.  Do you not remember that when I was still with you I told you these things? 6.  And now you know what is restraining, that he may be revealed in his own time. 7.  For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restra
