THE DAILY FOUNTAIN DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF THE CHURCH OF NIGERIA (ANGLICAN COMMUNION)

DATE: SUNDAY, 20TH MARCH, 2022 (THIRD SUNDAY IN LENT)

TOPIC: JESUS NEVER FAILS

TEXT: JOHN 11:17-27

17. So when Jesus came, He found that he had already been in the tomb four days.

18. Now Bethany was near Jerusalem, about two miles away.

19. And many of the Jews had joined the women around Martha and Mary, to comfort them concerning their brother.

20. Now Martha, as soon as she heard that Jesus was coming, went and met Him, but Mary was sitting in the house.

21. Now Martha said to Jesus, “Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died.

22. But even now I know that whatever You ask of God, God will give You.”

23. Jesus said to her, “Your brother will rise again.”

24. Martha said to Him, “I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.”

25. Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.

26. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?”

27. She said to Him, “Yes, Lord, I believe that You are the Christ, the Son of God, who is to come into the world.”

MESSAGE:

When Jesus heard of the death of Lazarus, he deliberately did not leave immediately to Bethany, the hometown of Lazarus, Mary and Martha. It had now been four days when Jesus finally arrived to see the crowd who had come to comfort the sisters of Lazarus. Martha ran to Jesus, exclaiming hope that if he had been around, her brother would not have died, but she still believed that God would give Him whatever he asked. However, her thought was for the final resurrection. Jesus assured her that the resurrection could be a present reality, because he is the “Resurrection and the Life.”Many times, we feel that we love Jesus so much that we can order Him around. Jesus can never be late in any matter, even if we do not seem to see His actions in a predetermined way. Whatever Jesus allows to happen in a given situation is for a purpose and in the best interest of the believer. There may be times we get desperate for help from Jesus and we make up our minds on the way He should respond. Let us learn to trust Jesus wholly and like Martha, believe that even when He seems to delay, His intervention will never be late.

PRAYER:

Lord God, give me grace to accept Your will with my whole heart and trust in You in all situations.

EXCERPTS FROM: 24/7 WARFARE PRAYERS AND SUPERNATURAL BREAKTHROUGH MANUAL

INTRODUCTION Right from childhood, the number “SEVEN” has always been an intrigue, an interesting puzzle, a fascination, and a great phenomenon to me. I was actually born on the seventh day of the month; perhaps this was one of the reasons why something leaps inside of me whenever I see the number. But as I grew up in the Christian faith I began to see a regular reference to it the scriptures. I was kind of saying, whoa! Holy bliss! Seven occurs 257 times, or 7 × 41 Seventh, the fractional part occurs 98 times or 7× 14 Seven –fold occurs 7 times. Seventy occurs 56 times or 7× 8 “Seventy” in combination with other numbers occurs 35 times or 7× 5. God is pleased to stamp the number “Seven” with the seal of perfection and completeness. God never down played the importance of the number, because it was the number of God. It is a carrier of God’s mysteries. It pleased God that, the Seventh man from Adam – Enoch sh...
