WHO ARE YOU? - THE DAILY FOUNTAIN DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF THE CHURCH OF NIGERIA (ANGLICAN COMMUNION)

THE DAILY FOUNTAIN DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF THE CHURCH OF NIGERIA (ANGLICAN COMMUNION)

DATE: SUNDAY, 12TH DECEMBER, 2021 (THIRD SUNDAY OF ADVENT)

TOPIC: WHO ARE YOU?

TEXT: JOHN 1:19-28

19.  Now this is the testimony of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, "Who are you?"
20.  He confessed, and did not deny, but confessed, "I am not the Christ."
21.  And they asked him, "What then? Are you Elijah?" He said, "I am not." "Are you the Prophet?" And he answered, "No."
22.  Then they said to him, "Who are you, that we may give an answer to those who sent us? What do you say about yourself?"
23.  He said: "I [am] 'The voice of one crying in the wilderness: "Make straight the way of the LORD," ' as the prophet Isaiah said."
24.  Now those who were sent were from the Pharisees.
25.  And they asked him, saying, "Why then do you baptize if you are not the Christ, nor Elijah, nor the Prophet?"
26.  John answered them, saying, "I baptize with water, but there stands One among you whom you do not know.
27.  "It is He who, coming after me, is preferred before me, whose sandal strap I am not worthy to loose."
28.  These things were done in Bethabara beyond the Jordan, where John was baptizing.

MESSAGE:
Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to John to ask one question: "Who are you? Sometimes, we are offended when someone asks us who we are, particularly in a derogatory manner. We feel sighted; we feel belittled. But if handled positively, it can be a good opportunity for a biblical self-evaluation. It should make us to truly ask if we are the persons we claim to be, or ask if we are truly the persons others perceive us to be. Are you truly the godly Christian person others think you are? Do you truly fit the profile you deliberately built for yourself; in other words, are you a hypocrite?

The way John handled the situation is very instructive. First, he confessed, and did not deny", "I am not the Christ" (NKJV). Brother, sister, do others think you are a Christian when you truly are not? Is your wife thinking that the child she has for you is your first child, meanwhile you had a child out of wedlock and she still does not know? Are you running around with your husband for prayers to conceive when you know that while you were in the world, your womb was damaged in an abortion? Confess! Truth sets free. Please make straight the way of the Lord.

ACTION :
Rise up today and handle every wrong impression you have deliberately created of yourself.

EXCERPTS FROM: 24/7 WARFARE PRAYERS AND SUPERNATURAL BREAKTHROUGH MANUAL

INTRODUCTION Right from childhood, the number “SEVEN” has always been an intrigue, an interesting puzzle, a fascination, and a great phenomenon to me. I was actually born on the seventh day of the month; perhaps this was one of the reasons why something leaps inside of me whenever I see the number. But as I grew up in the Christian faith I began to see a regular reference to it the scriptures. I was kind of saying, whoa! Holy bliss! Seven occurs 257 times, or 7 × 41 Seventh, the fractional part occurs 98 times or 7× 14 Seven –fold occurs 7 times. Seventy occurs 56 times or 7× 8 “Seventy” in combination with other numbers occurs 35 times or 7× 5. God is pleased to stamp the number “Seven” with the seal of perfection and completeness. God never down played the importance of the number, because it was the number of God. It is a carrier of God’s mysteries. It pleased God that, the Seventh man from Adam – Enoch sh
