TEXT: MATTHEW 1:1-17

1. The book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the Son of David, the Son of Abraham:

2. Abraham begot Isaac, Isaac begot Jacob, and Jacob begot Judah and his brothers.

3. Judah begot Perez and Zerah by Tamar, Perez begot Hezron, and Hezron begot Ram.

4. Ram begot Amminadab, Amminadab begot Nahshon, and Nahshon begot Salmon.

5.  Salmon begot Boaz by Rahab, Boaz begot Obed by Ruth, Obed begot Jesse,

6.  and Jesse begot David the king. David the king begot Solomon by her [who had been the wife] of Uriah.

7.  Solomon begot Rehoboam, Rehoboam begot Abijah, and Abijah begot Asa.

8.  Asa begot Jehoshaphat, Jehoshaphat begot Joram, and Joram begot Uzziah.

9.  Uzziah begot Jotham, Jotham begot Ahaz, and Ahaz begot Hezekiah.

10.  Hezekiah begot Manasseh, Manasseh begot Amon, and Amon begot Josiah.

11.  Josiah begot Jeconiah and his brothers about the time they were carried away to Babylon.

12.  And after they were brought to Babylon, Jeconiah begot Shealtiel, and Shealtiel begot Zerubbabel.

13.  Zerubbabel begot Abiud, Abiud begot Eliakim, and Eliakim begot Azor.

14.  Azor begot Zadok, Zadok begot Achim, and Achim begot Eliud.

15.  Eliud begot Eleazar, Eleazar begot Matthan, and Matthan begot Jacob.

16.  And Jacob begot Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus who is called Christ.

17.  So all the generations from Abraham to David [are] fourteen generations, from David until the captivity in Babylon [are] fourteen generations, and from the captivity in Babylon until the Christ [are] fourteen generations.

MESSAGE:

I spoke to a female student about Christ and her answer was that she couldn't be a Christian, but she didn't tell me why. Over the course of the semester, I found a few other opportunities to remind her that Christ was still interested in her. As I checked my pigeonhole one day, she came by and again I reminded her of the message of salvation. She finally said, "Today I will tell you why I cannot be a Christian. I can't because I'm hooked on drugs." She surrendered to Christ as she heard He is willing to save even a drug addict. The genealogy of Christ is replete with "glimpses of mercy." Jacob wasted many years cheating, yet God brought him in. Judah committed incest, but repentance firmly positioned him in the genealogy of Christ.

Rahab, a former harlot found a space, becoming the mother of Boaz; Boaz married Ruth, a Moabite, who should ordinarily not come near the covenant. But she became the mother of Obed, the father of Jesse, through whom David came. And Jesus is the "Son of David." Just like yesterday, we see the theme of mercy continuing. Have you taken advantage of the mercy of God? Are you saved? If you are, again thank Him for your salvation. If you are not, go on your knees now and do so. You'll be saved.

PRAYER:

Lord, help me spread Your message of mercy.

EXCERPTS FROM: 24/7 WARFARE PRAYERS AND SUPERNATURAL BREAKTHROUGH MANUAL

INTRODUCTION Right from childhood, the number “SEVEN” has always been an intrigue, an interesting puzzle, a fascination, and a great phenomenon to me. I was actually born on the seventh day of the month; perhaps this was one of the reasons why something leaps inside of me whenever I see the number. But as I grew up in the Christian faith I began to see a regular reference to it the scriptures. I was kind of saying, whoa! Holy bliss! Seven occurs 257 times, or 7 × 41 Seventh, the fractional part occurs 98 times or 7× 14 Seven –fold occurs 7 times. Seventy occurs 56 times or 7× 8 “Seventy” in combination with other numbers occurs 35 times or 7× 5. God is pleased to stamp the number “Seven” with the seal of perfection and completeness. God never down played the importance of the number, because it was the number of God. It is a carrier of God’s mysteries. It pleased God that, the Seventh man from Adam – Enoch sh
