MARY MAGDALENE: A GRATEFUL SERVANT

THE DAILY FOUNTAIN DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF THE CHURCH OF NIGERIA (ANGLICAN COMMUNION)

DATE: FRIDAY, 22ND JULY, 2022

TOPIC: MARY MAGDALENE: A GRATEFUL SERVANT

TEXT: LUKE 8:1-3

1. Now it came to pass, afterward, that He went through every city and village, preaching and bringing the glad tidings of the kingdom of God. And the twelve [were] with Him,

2. and certain women who had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities -- Mary called Magdalene, out of whom had come seven demons,

3. and Joanna the wife of Chuza, Herod's steward, and Susanna, and many others who provided for Him from their substance.

MESSAGE:

Mary Magdalene was one of the women that followed and supported Jesus’ ministry when He was here on earth. She was called Mary Magdalene to differentiate her from other Mary who also followed Jesus in His life time. She was from the City of Magdala hence the name, Mary Magdalene. She was one of the early followers of Jesus Christ and certainly deserves to be called a disciple. Mary Magdalene was the woman out of whom Jesus cast out seven demons (Mark 16:9). She was also the first person to discover the empty tomb and see Jesus after the Resurrection. Mary Magdalene used all resources in her possession to serve and support the ministry of Jesus Christ in appreciation of all that the Lord had done for her. As Christians, we can borrow a leaf from the life and dispositions of Mary Magdalene who engaged everything at her disposal to serve the Lord.

Jesus Christ wants us to use our lives, wealth and every material possession to propagate the Gospel and populate the kingdom of God. When we do this, we are only showing our appreciation for all He has done for us: Our salvation from sin, deliverance from the power of darkness and all His goodness over our lives. Mary Magdalene followed Jesus everywhere He went, so we must be available to follow Jesus everywhere He leads us.

PRAYER:

Lord, make me available for Your service at all times, in Jesus’ name. (Amen)

EXCERPTS FROM: 24/7 WARFARE PRAYERS AND SUPERNATURAL BREAKTHROUGH MANUAL

INTRODUCTION Right from childhood, the number “SEVEN” has always been an intrigue, an interesting puzzle, a fascination, and a great phenomenon to me. I was actually born on the seventh day of the month; perhaps this was one of the reasons why something leaps inside of me whenever I see the number. But as I grew up in the Christian faith I began to see a regular reference to it the scriptures. I was kind of saying, whoa! Holy bliss! Seven occurs 257 times, or 7 × 41 Seventh, the fractional part occurs 98 times or 7× 14 Seven –fold occurs 7 times. Seventy occurs 56 times or 7× 8 “Seventy” in combination with other numbers occurs 35 times or 7× 5. God is pleased to stamp the number “Seven” with the seal of perfection and completeness. God never down played the importance of the number, because it was the number of God. It is a carrier of God’s mysteries. It pleased God that, the Seventh man from Adam – Enoch sh
