TOPIC: GOD HATES MURMURING

TEXT: EXODUS 17:1-7

1. Then all the congregation of the children of Israel set out on their journey from the Wilderness of Sin, according to the commandment of the LORD, and camped in Rephidim; but [there was] no water for the people to drink.

2. Therefore the people contended with Moses, and said, "Give us water, that we may drink." And Moses said to them, "Why do you contend with me? Why do you tempt the LORD?"

3. And the people thirsted there for water, and the people complained against Moses, and said, "Why [is] it you have brought us up out of Egypt, to kill us and our children and our livestock with thirst?"

4. So Moses cried out to the LORD, saying, "What shall I do with this people? They are almost ready to stone me!"

5.  And the LORD said to Moses, "Go on before the people, and take with you some of the elders of Israel. Also take in your hand your rod with which you struck the river, and go.

6.  "Behold, I will stand before you there on the rock in Horeb; and you shall strike the rock, and water will come out of it, that the people may drink." And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel.

7.  So he called the name of the place Massah and Meribah, because of the contention of the children of Israel, and because they tempted the LORD, saying, "Is the LORD among us or not?"

MESSAGE:

Today's passage brings before us the incidence of murmuring at the water of Massah and Meribah where the children of Israel angrily put God to test. They murmured against Moses the servant of God, not knowing that they had murmured against God who led them to that location. It was common for the children of Israel to complain and murmur against God and His servants at the slightest uncomfortable situation.

This was because they magnified their problems and saw no solution coming from God - a display of unbelief! They were quick to forget that it was God who had been meeting their physical, spiritual and military needs since the commencement of the journey and God saw their murmuring as lack of faith in Him. As a child of God, be careful not to murmur against God. If God could answer your prayers in the past, He can handle your situations today.

Do not murmur but trust Him for the best. Pray about your situation and believe His word. Be careful, for when you think He is so far away; He might be testing your heart and faith in Him. Just trust that He can give you new songs; prayerfully seek His face and keep believing His Word. It shall be well with you.

PRAYER:

Lord God, help me to avoid murmuring but trust in You always, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

EXCERPTS FROM: 24/7 WARFARE PRAYERS AND SUPERNATURAL BREAKTHROUGH MANUAL

INTRODUCTION Right from childhood, the number “SEVEN” has always been an intrigue, an interesting puzzle, a fascination, and a great phenomenon to me. I was actually born on the seventh day of the month; perhaps this was one of the reasons why something leaps inside of me whenever I see the number. But as I grew up in the Christian faith I began to see a regular reference to it the scriptures. I was kind of saying, whoa! Holy bliss! Seven occurs 257 times, or 7 × 41 Seventh, the fractional part occurs 98 times or 7× 14 Seven –fold occurs 7 times. Seventy occurs 56 times or 7× 8 “Seventy” in combination with other numbers occurs 35 times or 7× 5. God is pleased to stamp the number “Seven” with the seal of perfection and completeness. God never down played the importance of the number, because it was the number of God. It is a carrier of God’s mysteries. It pleased God that, the Seventh man from Adam – Enoch sh
