CHILDREN, OBEY YOUR PARENTS

THE DAILY FOUNTAIN DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF THE CHURCH OF NIGERIA (ANGLICAN COMMUNION)

DATE: SATURDAY, 16TH JULY, 2022

TOPIC: CHILDREN, OBEY YOUR PARENTS

TEXT: EPHESIANS 6:1-4

1. Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.

2. "Honor your father and mother," which is the first commandment with promise:

3. "that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth."

4. And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord.

MESSAGE:

Our passage today shows how Paul pointed out the responsibilities of children in the home - they are to obey their parents with unreserved respect. In other words, they must carry out the instructions of their parents without rebuffing. Quoting from the Old Testament, Paul emphasised that it is the first commandment with a promise of long life and prosperity (vv. 1-3; Exodus 20:12). That is, obedient children will live to fulfil their days on the land of the living and prosper in all they do.In our present days, many parents are facing lots of troubles and challenges in raising their children in the way of the Lord.

Many children have become thorns in the flesh of their parents and the society. Children who are supposed to be the heritage of the Lord now respond willingly to the devil in their acts and conducts. As a Christian child, you should be different and obedient to your parents. Some children are in the habit of talking back at their parents; they are stubborn and have become uncontrollable. You should not join such children whose ways of life are against the will of God. You are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood and a peculiar treasure of the living God (1Pet. 2:9). Learn to obey and honour your parents and it shall be well with you.

PRAYER:

Lord Jesus Christ, come into my life and give me the Spirit of obedience to Your commandment, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

EXCERPTS FROM: 24/7 WARFARE PRAYERS AND SUPERNATURAL BREAKTHROUGH MANUAL

INTRODUCTION Right from childhood, the number “SEVEN” has always been an intrigue, an interesting puzzle, a fascination, and a great phenomenon to me. I was actually born on the seventh day of the month; perhaps this was one of the reasons why something leaps inside of me whenever I see the number. But as I grew up in the Christian faith I began to see a regular reference to it the scriptures. I was kind of saying, whoa! Holy bliss! Seven occurs 257 times, or 7 × 41 Seventh, the fractional part occurs 98 times or 7× 14 Seven –fold occurs 7 times. Seventy occurs 56 times or 7× 8 “Seventy” in combination with other numbers occurs 35 times or 7× 5. God is pleased to stamp the number “Seven” with the seal of perfection and completeness. God never down played the importance of the number, because it was the number of God. It is a carrier of God’s mysteries. It pleased God that, the Seventh man from Adam – Enoch sh
