BE FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT

THE DAILY FOUNTAIN DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF THE CHURCH OF NIGERIA (ANGLICAN COMMUNION)

DATE: WEDNESDAY, 13TH JULY, 2022

TOPIC: BE FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT

TEXT: EPHESIANS 5:18-21

18.  And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit,

19.  speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord,

20.  giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,

21.  submitting to one another in the fear of God.

MESSAGE:

The Holy Spirit is the third Person in Trinity. He is the Promise and Gift of God to all believers in Christ. Jesus Christ told His disciples that they would receive power when the Holy Spirit had come upon them and they would be His witnesses in every part of the world (Acts1:8).

In our text today, Paul admonished the believers in Ephesus not to get drunk with wine but to be filled with the Holy Spirit. To be filled with the Holy Spirit means to experience the infilling of the power from on high which enables every child of God to be victorious in his or her Christian journey. Beloved, being filled with Holy Spirit is the key to enjoying abundant life in Christ Jesus. When we are filled with the Holy Spirit, we are bound to experience and express joy and peace. The Holy Spirit emboldens us to overcome oppression, depression and frustration.

Whoever is filled with the Holy Spirit will be empowered to live a life pleasing in the sight of God. As a child of God, note that God is always willing to give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him (Luke 11:13). Ask Jesus to fill you with His Spirit and empower you to live a victorious Christian life. You need the Holy Spirit!

PRAYER:

Dear Lord, fill my life with the Holy Spirit that I may live to honour and glorify your name, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

EXCERPTS FROM: 24/7 WARFARE PRAYERS AND SUPERNATURAL BREAKTHROUGH MANUAL

INTRODUCTION Right from childhood, the number “SEVEN” has always been an intrigue, an interesting puzzle, a fascination, and a great phenomenon to me. I was actually born on the seventh day of the month; perhaps this was one of the reasons why something leaps inside of me whenever I see the number. But as I grew up in the Christian faith I began to see a regular reference to it the scriptures. I was kind of saying, whoa! Holy bliss! Seven occurs 257 times, or 7 × 41 Seventh, the fractional part occurs 98 times or 7× 14 Seven –fold occurs 7 times. Seventy occurs 56 times or 7× 8 “Seventy” in combination with other numbers occurs 35 times or 7× 5. God is pleased to stamp the number “Seven” with the seal of perfection and completeness.
