FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT

THE DAILY FOUNTAIN DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF THE CHURCH OF NIGERIA (ANGLICAN COMMUNION)

DATE: SUNDAY, 31ST JULY, 2022

TOPIC: FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT

TEXT: GALATIANS 5:16-26

16.  I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.

17.  For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish.

18.  But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.

19.  Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness,

20.  idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies,

21.  envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told [you] in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

22.  But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,

23.  gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.

24.  And those [who are] Christ's have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

25.  If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

26.  Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.

MESSAGE:

Today’s passage urges believers to walk in the Spirit in order to bear the fruits of the Spirit. At redemption, Christians receive the nature of God to bear fruit of the Spirit. These seeds can only grow and mature through personal devotion and constant prayers with the help of the Holy Spirit. Just as the physical fruits need time to grow, so the fruit of the Spirit will not ripe in our lives overnight. As a vine dresser needs to get rid of weeds to enjoy the sweet fruit he desires, so also must believers do away with the old nature of sin that can choke up the fruit of the Spirit. Beloved in Christ, fruit of the Spirit is the evidence of being connected to Christ (v.22). Except you abide in Christ Jesus, you cannot bear these fruits.

The kind of life a believer lives will determine the kind of fruit he produces (Matthew 7:16-20). We have to be focused in our relationship with the Holy Spirit who is the Producer of the fruits. God desires that all believers should manifest these fruits in their lives. As a Child of God, do not disconnect yourself from the Source - the Holy Spirit. You can only manifest the fruit of the Spirit when you remain connected to the Lord.

PRAYER:

Father, fill me with Your Spirit that I may live to please You in all things, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

EXCERPTS FROM: 24/7 WARFARE PRAYERS AND SUPERNATURAL BREAKTHROUGH MANUAL

INTRODUCTION Right from childhood, the number “SEVEN” has always been an intrigue, an interesting puzzle, a fascination, and a great phenomenon to me. I was actually born on the seventh day of the month; perhaps this was one of the reasons why something leaps inside of me whenever I see the number. But as I grew up in the Christian faith I began to see a regular reference to it the scriptures. I was kind of saying, whoa! Holy bliss! Seven occurs 257 times, or 7 × 41 Seventh, the fractional part occurs 98 times or 7× 14 Seven –fold occurs 7 times. Seventy occurs 56 times or 7× 8 “Seventy” in combination with other numbers occurs 35 times or 7× 5. God is pleased to stamp the number “Seven” with the seal of perfection and completeness. God never down played the importance of the number, because it was the number of God. It is a carrier of God’s mysteries. It pleased God that, the Seventh man from Adam – Enoch sh
