THE DAILY FOUNTAIN DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF THE CHURCH OF NIGERIA (ANGLICAN COMMUNION)

DATE: SATURDAY, 15TH JULY, 2023

TOPIC: REMEMBER LOT'S WIFE

TEXT: LUKE 17:30-37

30.  "Even so will it be in the day when the Son of Man is revealed.
31.  "In that day, he who is on the housetop, and his goods [are] in the house, let him not come down to take them away. And likewise the one who is in the field, let him not turn back.
32.  "Remember Lot's wife.
33.  "Whoever seeks to save his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life will preserve it.
34.  "I tell you, in that night there will be two [men] in one bed: the one will be taken and the other will be left.
35.  "Two [women] will be grinding together: the one will be taken and the other left.
36.  "Two [men] will be in the field: the one will be taken and the other left."
37.  And they answered and said to Him, "Where, Lord?" So He said to them, "Wherever the body is, there the eagles will be gathered together."

MESSAGE:
“Remember Lot's wife” was the admonition the Lord gave His disciples while prophesying the imminent judgement to be visited on Jerusalem for rejecting Him (Luke 17:25;19:41-44). As it was the days of Noah and Lot, punishment would come upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem suddenly. The believers were to watch for the 'abominations of desolation' spoken about by Daniel (Matt. 24:15). These should propel them to run for their dear lives. “The one who is on the house top, and his goods in the house, let him not come down to take them away. And likewise the one who is in the field, let him not turn back”(v.31). Then He said, 'Remember Lot's wife” (v.32). Lot's wife, while being forced to escape the judgment that was coming on Sodom and Gomorrah, was carried away with the lust for worldly possessions and thus failed to obey the order given by the angels not to look back. She looked back and became a pillar of salt (Gen. 19:26). She missed the salvation of God as her disobedience ended her life abruptly.
Beloved, over and over again, we have been warned that judgement is coming upon the world for rejecting the Lord Jesus Christ and His will. We are admonished to escape for our lives by accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour and live to honour Him in truth and holiness. A good number of those who profess the Christian faith live carelessly and have not thrown away the pleasures of this sinful world. Some Christians can hardly be distinguished from unbelievers, a dangerous way to live. As a child of God, you must live by the dictates of the Word and deliberately prepare to meet the Lord when He comes back. Do not be like Lot's wife who knew that judgment was coming but because of greed refused to heed the warning of the angels. May you end well!

Prayer:
Dear Lord, enable me to end well, in Jesus name.

EXCERPTS FROM: 24/7 WARFARE PRAYERS AND SUPERNATURAL BREAKTHROUGH MANUAL

INTRODUCTION Right from childhood, the number “SEVEN” has always been an intrigue, an interesting puzzle, a fascination, and a great phenomenon to me. I was actually born on the seventh day of the month; perhaps this was one of the reasons why something leaps inside of me whenever I see the number. But as I grew up in the Christian faith I began to see a regular reference to it the scriptures. I was kind of saying, whoa! Holy bliss! Seven occurs 257 times, or 7 × 41 Seventh, the fractional part occurs 98 times or 7× 14 Seven –fold occurs 7 times. Seventy occurs 56 times or 7× 8 “Seventy” in combination with other numbers occurs 35 times or 7× 5. God is pleased to stamp the number “Seven” with the seal of perfection and completeness. God never down played the importance of the number, because it was the number of God. It is a carrier of God’s mysteries. It pleased God that, the Seventh man from Adam – Enoch sh
