CONTENTMENT, BASIS FOR A PEACEFUL FAMILY LIFE

THE DAILY FOUNTAIN DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF THE CHURCH OF NIGERIA (ANGLICAN COMMUNION)

TOPIC: CONTENTMENT, BASIS FOR A PEACEFUL FAMILY LIFE

 TEXT: PROVERBS 16:31-17:8

31  The silver-haired head [is] a crown of glory, [If] it is found in the way of righteousness.
32  [He who is] slow to anger [is] better than the mighty, And he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city.
33  The lot is cast into the lap, But its every decision [is] from the LORD.
17:1 Better [is] a dry morsel with quietness, Than a house full of feasting [with] strife.
2 A wise servant will rule over a son who causes shame, And will share an inheritance among the brothers.
3 The refining pot [is] for silver and the furnace for gold, But the LORD tests the hearts.
4 An evildoer gives heed to false lips; A liar listens eagerly to a spiteful tongue.
5  He who mocks the poor reproaches his Maker; He who is glad at calamity will not go unpunished.
6  Children's children [are] the crown of old men, And the glory of children [is] their father.
7  Excellent speech is not becoming to a fool, Much less lying lips to a prince.
8  A present [is] a precious stone in the eyes of its possessor; Wherever he turns, he prospers.

MESSAGE:
Our text today brings together many things that will help man to live a peaceful family life. We already know that only things acquired in the right way can remain permanent (Jer. 17:11). The writer points out how more desirable it is to have a peaceful life rather than a house full of delicacies with strife. A peaceful family life is a great blessing. It becomes obvious from the text that God's dealing with His people is always for good; it is to make them live to fulfil His purpose for their lives with absolute joy.
Brethren, part of what brings peace and harmony into our lives and family is contentment. The word of God says, “Keep your life free from the love of money, and be content with what you have; for he has said,“I will never fail you nor forsake you" (Heb. 13:5). Note that contentment in this sense does not translate to idleness or complacency; it means thanking God for what He has given you and trusting Him for the best. Anyone who desires to live a contented life must allow Jesus to rule and reign in his or her life. He is the Prince of peace. Jesus is the only one through whom contentment can be guaranteed. Let Him rule and reign in your life and family and you will see how much peace. When Jesus is in a family, there will be peace and joy; the true reflection of contentment.

Prayer:
Jesus Christ the Prince of peace, come into my life and establish Your Throne of peace. Amen.

EXCERPTS FROM: 24/7 WARFARE PRAYERS AND SUPERNATURAL BREAKTHROUGH MANUAL

INTRODUCTION Right from childhood, the number “SEVEN” has always been an intrigue, an interesting puzzle, a fascination, and a great phenomenon to me. I was actually born on the seventh day of the month; perhaps this was one of the reasons why something leaps inside of me whenever I see the number. But as I grew up in the Christian faith I began to see a regular reference to it the scriptures. I was kind of saying, whoa! Holy bliss! Seven occurs 257 times, or 7 × 41 Seventh, the fractional part occurs 98 times or 7× 14 Seven –fold occurs 7 times. Seventy occurs 56 times or 7× 8 “Seventy” in combination with other numbers occurs 35 times or 7× 5. God is pleased to stamp the number “Seven” with the seal of perfection and completeness. God never down played the importance of the number, because it was the number of God. It is a carrier of God’s mysteries. It pleased God that, the Seventh man from Adam – Enoch sh
