LEARN TO BE PRUDENT.

THE DAILY FOUNTAIN DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF THE CHURCH OF NIGERIA (ANGLICAN COMMUNION)

DATE: MONDAY, 10TH JULY, 2023

TOPIC: LEARN TO BE PRUDENT.

TEXT: LUKE 16:1-18

1. He also said to His disciples: "There was a certain rich man who had a steward, and an accusation was brought to him that this man was wasting his goods.
2. "So he called him and said to him, 'What is this I hear about you? Give an account of your stewardship, for you can no longer be steward.'
3. "Then the steward said within himself, 'What shall I do? For my master is taking the stewardship away from me. I cannot dig; I am ashamed to beg.
4. 'I have resolved what to do, that when I am put out of the stewardship, they may receive me into their houses.'
5.  "So he called every one of his master's debtors to [him,] and said to the first, 'How much do you owe my master?'
6.  "And he said, 'A hundred measures of oil.' So he said to him, 'Take your bill, and sit down quickly and write fifty.'
7.  "Then he said to another, 'And how much do you owe?' So he said, 'A hundred measures of wheat.' And he said to him, 'Take your bill, and write eighty.'
8.  "So the master commended the unjust steward because he had dealt shrewdly. For the sons of this world are more shrewd in their generation than the sons of light.
9.  "And I say to you, make friends for yourselves by unrighteous mammon, that when you fail, they may receive you into an everlasting home.
10.  "He who [is] faithful in [what is] least is faithful also in much; and he who is unjust in [what is] least is unjust also in much.
11.  "Therefore if you have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true [riches?]
12.  "And if you have not been faithful in what is another man's, who will give you what is your own?
13.  "No servant can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon."
15.  Now the Pharisees, who were lovers of money, also heard all these things, and they derided Him.
15.  And He said to them, "You are those who justify yourselves before men, but God knows your hearts. For what is highly esteemed among men is an abomination in the sight of God.
16.  "The law and the prophets [were] until John. Since that time the kingdom of God has been preached, and everyone is pressing into it.
17.  "And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass away than for one tittle of the law to fail.
18.  "Whoever divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery; and whoever marries her who is divorced from [her] husband commits adultery.

MESSAGE:
One of the problems of the prodigal son as we read yesterday was lack of prudence; he squandered all he had. Today's text reveals the story of another man who lost his job because he was not prudent enough. He was accused of wasting his master's goods. This singular act made him lose opportunities and forfeit his employment. On the contrary, Joseph advised king Pharaoh and the Egyptians against wastage when the land would witness abundance for seven years. He advised them to save for the season of drought (Gen. 41:28-37).
Our society today is characterised by wastage of resources from the government down to individuals. Sometimes, projects are approved, funded and left undone. For some, mismanagement of fund is nothing to them as much as it is not theirs or does not affect their income. Meanwhile, it is important to note that if you fail to be faithful in managing other people's business or property, no one will give you your own (v.12). Do not mismanage the resources in your care. Accountability does not only mean you did not embezzle company money but also helps you to direct the resources available to achieve the desired goal. Therefore, learn to be prudent.

Prayer:
Lord, help me not to be wasteful but prudent in handling the resources in my care. Amen.

EXCERPTS FROM: 24/7 WARFARE PRAYERS AND SUPERNATURAL BREAKTHROUGH MANUAL

INTRODUCTION Right from childhood, the number “SEVEN” has always been an intrigue, an interesting puzzle, a fascination, and a great phenomenon to me. I was actually born on the seventh day of the month; perhaps this was one of the reasons why something leaps inside of me whenever I see the number. But as I grew up in the Christian faith I began to see a regular reference to it the scriptures. I was kind of saying, whoa! Holy bliss! Seven occurs 257 times, or 7 × 41 Seventh, the fractional part occurs 98 times or 7× 14 Seven –fold occurs 7 times. Seventy occurs 56 times or 7× 8 “Seventy” in combination with other numbers occurs 35 times or 7× 5. God is pleased to stamp the number “Seven” with the seal of perfection and completeness. God never down played the importance of the number, because it was the number of God. It is a carrier of God’s mysteries. It pleased God that, the Seventh man from Adam – Enoch sh
