FINDING YOUR PURPOSE

THE DAILY FOUNTAIN DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF THE CHURCH OF NIGERIA (ANGLICAN COMMUNION)

DATE: SUNDAY, 18TH DECEMBER, 2022 (FOURTH SUNDAY IN ADVENT)

TOPIC: FINDING YOUR PURPOSE

TEXT: ROMANS 1: 1-7

1. Paul, a bondservant of Jesus Christ, called [to be] an apostle, separated to the gospel of God
2. which He promised before through His prophets in the Holy Scriptures,
3. concerning His Son Jesus Christ our Lord, who was born of the seed of David according to the flesh,
4. [and] declared [to be] the Son of God with power according to the Spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead.
5.  Through Him we have received grace and apostleship for obedience to the faith among all nations for His name,
6.  among whom you also are the called of Jesus Christ;
7.  To all who are in Rome, beloved of God, called [to be] saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

MESSAGE:
Some years ago, I got a new phone. My children considered it quite sophisticated, capable of doing many things. Meanwhile for me, I was just using it mainly for making and receiving calls as well as texts. My children felt I was grossly underutilising the phone, which was designed to do much more than I was using it for. In a sense, I had not discovered the full potential of the phone. In the same way, when we fail to discover what God designed us for, we operate far below expected capacity. Worse still, we will be dabbling into issues, doing trial and error. No one ever gets fulfilled without discovering his purpose of existence; that’s when real living starts. Paul, by the time he penned the letter to the Christians in Rome, had discovered his main purpose in life: He was a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle. Two issues are worth noting here. (i) He was a servant of Jesus. No man can find his true identity outside Christ. In Him all things hold together; our lives are never intact outside Him. Have you become His servant? (ii) Called to be an apostle: He had found out what Christ wants to use his life for. He was a sent one, born to carry the message of Christ to a dying world. Do not float. Find out God’s purpose for your life.

PRAYER:
Lord, reveal to me Your purpose for my life.

EXCERPTS FROM: 24/7 WARFARE PRAYERS AND SUPERNATURAL BREAKTHROUGH MANUAL

INTRODUCTION Right from childhood, the number “SEVEN” has always been an intrigue, an interesting puzzle, a fascination, and a great phenomenon to me. I was actually born on the seventh day of the month; perhaps this was one of the reasons why something leaps inside of me whenever I see the number. But as I grew up in the Christian faith I began to see a regular reference to it the scriptures. I was kind of saying, whoa! Holy bliss! Seven occurs 257 times, or 7 × 41 Seventh, the fractional part occurs 98 times or 7× 14 Seven –fold occurs 7 times. Seventy occurs 56 times or 7× 8 “Seventy” in combination with other numbers occurs 35 times or 7× 5. God is pleased to stamp the number “Seven” with the seal of perfection and completeness. God never down played the importance of the number, because it was the number of God. It is a carrier of God’s mysteries. It pleased God that, the Seventh man from Adam – Enoch sh
