CONSECRATION OF FIFTEEN BISHOPS AND INAUGURATION OF FOURTEEN NEWLY CREATED DIOCESES IN THE CHURCH OF NIGERIA, ANGLICAN COMMUNION



The Primate of the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, The Most Rev’d Henry C. Ndukuba, will lead other Archbishops and Bishops to consecrate fifteen newly elected bishops on Sunday, November 9, 2025, at a service to be held at the Cathedral Church of the Advent, Life-camp in Abuja.

Recall that the House of Bishop, arising from its Episcopal Synod on Thursday, 18th September 2025 at the Cathedral Church of Emmanuel, Okesha, Ado-Ekiti, in Ekiti Diocese, elected new bishops to fill one of its vacant Sees (Diocese of Irele/Eseodo) and fourteen of the recently created fifteen dioceses.

The following Servants of God were duly Elected at the Episcopal Synod:

Diocese of Irele/Ese-Odo – Venerable Samuel Ogunmiluyi

Diocese of Ekiti South – Venerable Francis Bankole

Diocese of Kalabari – Venerable Boma Briggs

Diocese of Lagos South West – Venerable Dr. Adewole Ajayi

Diocese of Omoku – Venerable Richard N. Okpara

Diocese of Ozoro – Venerable Dr. Benjamin Idume

Missionary Diocese of Idanre – Venerable Bode Otenaike

Missionary Diocese of Ikom – Venerable David Michson

Missionary Diocese of Keffi-Karshi – Venerable Dr. Paul Dajur

Missionary Diocese of Nasarawa – Venerable Dr. Luka B. Allu

Missionary Diocese of Ogoja – Venerable Ifeanyi Akunna

Missionary Diocese of Oyo South – Venerable Dr. Ebenezer Familoni

Missionary Diocese of Oyun – Venerable Solomon Adewumi

Missionary Diocese of Takum – Rev’d Canon Rika G. Ibrahim

Missionary Diocese of Zuru – Venerable Dr. Ayuba Kanta

The consecration service will confirm the new episcopal leaders for these Dioceses. After this very important service, the Primate will proceed to inaugurate fourteen out of the fifteen newly created Dioceses in the Church of Nigeria. 

The stretch of the inaugurations will take place from 15th of November to 20th of December 2025 as tentatively slated below;

2. Nasarawa November 15

3. Lagos South West November 25

4. Oyo South November 26

5. Oyun November 26

6. Ekiti South November 27

7. ldanre November 28

8. Ozoro December 2

9. lkom December 4

10. Ogoja December 4

11. Kalabari December 5

12. Omoku December 5

13. Zuru December 17

14. Takum December 20

Primate Henry Ndukuba has called on all faithful to pray for the newly elected bishops and their families as they prepare to transition into their new roles in the days ahead.

FIVE NEW FULL FLEDGED ANGLICAN DIOCESES

Five new Dioceses have been created in the Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion.
