TOPIC: URGENT NEED FOR FOLLOW-UP

TEXT: ACTS 8:14-17

14.  Now when the apostles who were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent Peter and John to them,

15.  who, when they had come down, prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit.

16.  For as yet He had fallen upon none of them. They had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.

17.  Then they laid hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit.

MESSAGE:

Young converts need a lot of assistance from the older ones in the faith. Philip preached the word in Samaria, and many of them became converted. However, there was a challenge of a witch doctor in the land - Simon the sorcerer - who amazed the people of Samaria for a long time through witchcraft (v.11).

The Apostles in Jerusalem heard that Samaria had accepted the word of God and they quickly sent Peter and John to them (v.14). When they came, they saw the need to minister to them about the Holy Spirit. The new believers were filled with the Holy Spirit and were encouraged. The sorcerer, Simon, was confronted by the Apostles and he surrendered to the supreme power of the Almighty God (v.24).

The promise of the Holy Spirit is for all believers in Christ (Acts. 2:39). It is very important that young converts should be exposed to the ministry of the Holy Spirit as soon as they begin their journey of faith in Christ. This underscores the need for intentional discipleship. There are many powers of darkness and false doctrines that contend for the faith of the new convert. Let the Church never leave them alone without getting them grounded in the faith.

PRAYER:

Pray for new converts in your Church or fellowship to become established in the faith.

EXCERPTS FROM: 24/7 WARFARE PRAYERS AND SUPERNATURAL BREAKTHROUGH MANUAL

INTRODUCTION Right from childhood, the number “SEVEN” has always been an intrigue, an interesting puzzle, a fascination, and a great phenomenon to me. I was actually born on the seventh day of the month; perhaps this was one of the reasons why something leaps inside of me whenever I see the number. But as I grew up in the Christian faith I began to see a regular reference to it the scriptures. I was kind of saying, whoa! Holy bliss! Seven occurs 257 times, or 7 × 41 Seventh, the fractional part occurs 98 times or 7× 14 Seven –fold occurs 7 times. Seventy occurs 56 times or 7× 8 “Seventy” in combination with other numbers occurs 35 times or 7× 5. God is pleased to stamp the number “Seven” with the seal of perfection and completeness. God never down played the importance of the number, because it was the number of God. It is a carrier of God’s mysteries. It pleased God that, the Seventh man from Adam – Enoch sh...
