6 BENEFITS OF KEEPING THE FAMILY ALTAR ALIVE - Ekundayo

Family altar is the assembly of the people who have a ‘common blood’ and a ‘common heart’ in the presence of the LORD. It is not about the construction of a tall table, or positioning a big stone at the corner of the bedroom. I love this quote by Oswald Chambers: “You must be willing to be placed on the altar and go through the fire, willing to experience what the altar represent-burning, purification, and separation for only one purpose-the elimination of every desire and affection not grounded in or directed towards God. But you do not eliminate it, God does.” How the Structure of Family Altar looks like? The family altar for the New Testament has nothing to do with the designs mentioned in the Old Testament. The attendants at the family altar are strictly the family members (father, mother, children, and relatives). And the synchronisation of the hearts of your family in the presence of the Lord forms the family altar. Matthew chapter 5 verses 8 say: “Blessed are the pure in heart, ...

What is the 'Church'? - Bp FelixOrji, OSB

“What is the Church? According to Article 19 of the 39 Articles of Religion, “The visible Church is a congregation of faithful men in which the pure word of God is preached and the sacraments duly administered”. I love the way the late Anglican theologian  Dr. John Stott put it. He noted that the church is a multilingual, multicultural, multiracial, inter generational, and multiethnic community of believers who are committed to Christ, Scripture, one another, and to the Mission, ministry and worship of God in the world. That’s what we are celebrating today. We come from different backgrounds and climes and that’s a good thing. We are better of by it.  But there is something else that we as believers must bear in mind with respect to our identity. It is the fact that we are children of God with a glorious future ahead of us in Christ and through faith in Him. That is our uniting and glorious eternal identity. That is what we see in I John 3:1-2” ~ Bishop Felix Orji, OS...

There's More to You - Elsie Dennis

“Sometimes the place you are used to is not where you belong.” Queen of Katwe movie. My favorite machine in the gym is the Treadmill. I love to just set it and start walking. As I walk I’m praying and affirming. I close my eyes and imagine myself on a beach somewhere or beside my favorite lake with nature all around me. I just love the treadmill, and there is a reason for that. But there is also a challenge with it. Walking the treadmill means I burn fewer calories in the same time when compared to the stationery bike. Now that’s one machine I absolutely hate using. It takes much more effort and I find myself stopping to rest every few minutes whereas I could be on the treadmill for an hour nonstop. This morning I got to the gym and all the treadmills were taken; the stationery bike was free. So I climbed the bike grudgingly and proceeded to pedal. Within a few minutes I was sweating and panting. That’s when the above line hit me. I love the treadmill because I am used to walking....

It is explained this way, in the singular a woman’s relationship to man is that of a wife to a husband. Since man and woman comes from the same root word, she is not given over into his power, rather she complements him and stands at his side as an equal. Until she yielded to the temptation from the serpent then God removed the equality and the " ruling " power went to the man. Women Meaning Biblically. The root word for ishah is ‘ish ...

Managing Church Funds in Times of Scarce Resources - Dr C. Akpoki

SPEAKING YESTERDAY AT THE ANNUAL RETREAT OF THE SAPELE DIOCESE, CHURCH OF NIGERIA, ANGLICAN COMMUNION, AT CHRIST ANGLICAN CHURCH, OKPE ROAD SAPELE. 13/8/2021 The retreat was for clergymen, their wives, church workers and other church officials. His Lordship Bishop Blessing Erifeta was presiding. I spoke on: MANAGING CHURCH FUNDS IN TIMES OF SCARCE RESOURCES. WHY SCARCITY OF FUNDS TO DO GOD'S WORK? 1) ECONOMIC CYCLES AND COVID 19 The lockdown in Nigeria affected the finances of Churches like several other organisations.  In economics there is something called economic cycles.  It's an occurrence every 6-10 years of economic boom followed by economic depression and later a boom. It's what I call the period of FAT COWS AND LEAN COWS.  Even though God owns everything and can supply all our needs, we need to apply JOSEPHIC WISDOM in economic matters by saving for the years of lean cows. We need to apply this as a nation, organisations and as individuals. It also involves li...
