REMAIN CONNECTED TO JESUS THROUGH THE WORD

THE DAILY FOUNTAIN DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF THE CHURCH OF NIGERIA (ANGLICAN COMMUNION)

DATE: SUNDAY, 11TH JUNE, 2023 (FIRST SUNDAY AFTER TRINITY)

TOPIC: REMAIN CONNECTED TO JESUS THROUGH THE WORD

TEXT: JOHN 15:1-5

1. "I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser.
2. "Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every [branch] that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit.
3. "You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you.
4. "Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.
5.  "I am the vine, you [are] the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.

MESSAGE:
Using the analogy of the vine in our text today, Apostle John reminds us that we are designed and called unto kingdom fruitfulness. The only condition for this fruitfulness, is continually abiding in the Lord Jesus, who is the true vine. In fact, Jesus Himself declared that, “Without me, you can do nothing”(v.5).
The key ingredient we need to keep bearing fruit is the Word of God. The Word sanctifies and washes away impurities and hindrances in a disciple's life. The pruning process is not always pleasant, but the end result is spiritual growth. Remember Jesus said, it is the Word of God that purifies and makes us whole. Keep eating and digesting the Word daily and you will be fruitful in all your endeavours. Like the Psalmist said, anyone who delights in the Word of God shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, bringing forth fruits in season, whose leaves do not wither, and who prosper in all they do (Psa. 1:2-3). Apostle Paul admonished the church in Colossae thus; “Let the Word dwell richly in you” (Col. 3:16). Get connected to the Lord today. Be a hearer and doer of the word (James 1:22).

PRAYER:
Lord, I am nothing without You, grant me grace to continually abide in You, the true vine. Amen.

EXCERPTS FROM: 24/7 WARFARE PRAYERS AND SUPERNATURAL BREAKTHROUGH MANUAL

INTRODUCTION Right from childhood, the number “SEVEN” has always been an intrigue, an interesting puzzle, a fascination, and a great phenomenon to me. I was actually born on the seventh day of the month; perhaps this was one of the reasons why something leaps inside of me whenever I see the number. But as I grew up in the Christian faith I began to see a regular reference to it the scriptures. I was kind of saying, whoa! Holy bliss! Seven occurs 257 times, or 7 × 41 Seventh, the fractional part occurs 98 times or 7× 14 Seven –fold occurs 7 times. Seventy occurs 56 times or 7× 8 “Seventy” in combination with other numbers occurs 35 times or 7× 5. God is pleased to stamp the number “Seven” with the seal of perfection and completeness. God never down played the importance of the number, because it was the number of God. It is a carrier of God’s mysteries. It pleased God that, the Seventh man from Adam – Enoch sh
