TOPIC: BREAD OF LIFE

TEXT: JOHN 6: 32-40

32.  Then Jesus said to them, "Most assuredly, I say to you, Moses did not give you the bread from heaven, but My Father gives you the true bread from heaven.
33.  "For the bread of God is He who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world."
34.  Then they said to Him, "Lord, give us this bread always."
35.  And Jesus said to them, "I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.
36.  "But I said to you that you have seen Me and yet do not believe.
37.  "All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out.
38.  "For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me.
39.  "This is the will of the Father who sent Me, that of all He has given Me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up at the last day.
40.  "And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day."

MESSAGE:
During the 40-years in the wilderness, from Egypt to the promised land, God fed the people of Israel with manna from heaven (Exo.16: 11-15, 35). The manna usually fell like dew in the mornings, and in the evenings, quail that served as meat. The manna ceased when they entered the Promised Land and ate its produce (Josh.5: 12). Unfortunately, in spite of these spectacular miracles, many of the Israelites did not exercise faith in God and so they died (Psa. 78: 22-25; Heb. 3: 19). In verses 30-31 of our passage, the Jews demanded miraculous signs from Jesus, referring to the miraculous manna in the desert. Jesus used the opportunity to teach them that He is the true Bread from heaven that gives life to the world. He reprimanded them for lack of faith in Him like their ancestors and taught that eternal life in Him was more important than miracles.
Jesus shows clearly that anyone who comes to Him will neither hunger nor thirst but will receive full rest and satisfaction (v.35). This satisfaction starts from this life and ends up in eternal life (vs.37, 40). Since we have this great opportunity of knowing Christ, let us believe and trust Him fully and we shall have abundant life (John 10: 10). Let us strive to eat the bread of life daily by studying the scriptures and our lives will be changed for good.

PRAYER:
Bread of heaven, feed me till I want no more...(Song by Roonie Booth)

EXCERPTS FROM: 24/7 WARFARE PRAYERS AND SUPERNATURAL BREAKTHROUGH MANUAL

INTRODUCTION Right from childhood, the number “SEVEN” has always been an intrigue, an interesting puzzle, a fascination, and a great phenomenon to me. I was actually born on the seventh day of the month; perhaps this was one of the reasons why something leaps inside of me whenever I see the number. But as I grew up in the Christian faith I began to see a regular reference to it the scriptures. I was kind of saying, whoa! Holy bliss! Seven occurs 257 times, or 7 × 41 Seventh, the fractional part occurs 98 times or 7× 14 Seven –fold occurs 7 times. Seventy occurs 56 times or 7× 8 “Seventy” in combination with other numbers occurs 35 times or 7× 5. God is pleased to stamp the number “Seven” with the seal of perfection and completeness. God never down played the importance of the number, because it was the number of God. It is a carrier of God’s mysteries. It pleased God that, the Seventh man from Adam – Enoch sh
