THE SAME SPIRIT

THE DAILY FOUNTAIN DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF THE CHURCH OF NIGERIA (ANGLICAN COMMUNION)

DATE: MONDAY, 27TH MARCH, 2023

TOPIC: THE SAME SPIRIT

TEXT: 1 CORINTHIANS 12: 12-28

12.  For as the body is one and has many members, but all the members of that one body, being many, are one body, so also [is] Christ.
13.  For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body -- whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free -- and have all been made to drink into one Spirit.
14.  For in fact the body is not one member but many.
15.  If the foot should say, "Because I am not a hand, I am not of the body," is it therefore not of the body?
16.  And if the ear should say, "Because I am not an eye, I am not of the body," is it therefore not of the body?
17.  If the whole body [were] an eye, where [would be] the hearing? If the whole [were] hearing, where [would be] the smelling?
18.  But now God has set the members, each one of them, in the body just as He pleased.
19.  And if they [were] all one member, where [would] the body [be?]
20.  But now indeed [there are] many members, yet one body.
21.  And the eye cannot say to the hand, "I have no need of you"; nor again the head to the feet, "I have no need of you."
22.  No, much rather, those members of the body which seem to be weaker are necessary.
23.  And those [members] of the body which we think to be less honorable, on these we bestow greater honor; and our unpresentable [parts] have greater modesty,
24.  but our presentable [parts] have no need. But God composed the body, having given greater honor to that [part] which lacks it,
25.  that there should be no schism in the body, but [that] the members should have the same care for one another.
26.  And if one member suffers, all the members suffer with [it;] or if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with [it.]
27.  Now you are the body of Christ, and members individually.
28.  And God has appointed these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, varieties of tongues.

MESSAGE:
We are all united into one body by the same Spirit(1Cor.12: 13). So, we are all members of Christ after we are born again and have the same Spirit dwelling in us. Therefore, if we all have the same Spirit deposited in us, what influences our behaviour is our level of yielding to this Spirit of God in us.
Each part of the physical body is important and is needed for other members of the body to function maximally. Similarly, we need each other with varied gifts, to function as an effective church. So the person with the gift of working of miracles should not think he is greater than those with the gift of faith or prophecy and vice versa. Let us appreciate all the gifts that God has put in the lives of people for the effectiveness of His Church. This is because the same Spirit of God is in us, expressing Himself as He wills, through us all, in various dimensions, for the growth and prosperity of the church. Hence there is no room for comparison of gifts. Rather, we must diligently make use of our gifts for the work assigned to us by God. Remember the teaching of Christ about servants that were given different amounts of talents(Matt.25: 14-30). Do you know your gifts? Are you utilising them effectively to fulfil the purpose of God for your life?

PRAYER:
Father, help me to faithfully use Your gift(s) in me to serve Your church. Amen.

EXCERPTS FROM: 24/7 WARFARE PRAYERS AND SUPERNATURAL BREAKTHROUGH MANUAL

INTRODUCTION Right from childhood, the number “SEVEN” has always been an intrigue, an interesting puzzle, a fascination, and a great phenomenon to me. I was actually born on the seventh day of the month; perhaps this was one of the reasons why something leaps inside of me whenever I see the number. But as I grew up in the Christian faith I began to see a regular reference to it the scriptures. I was kind of saying, whoa! Holy bliss! Seven occurs 257 times, or 7 × 41 Seventh, the fractional part occurs 98 times or 7× 14 Seven –fold occurs 7 times. Seventy occurs 56 times or 7× 8 “Seventy” in combination with other numbers occurs 35 times or 7× 5. God is pleased to stamp the number “Seven” with the seal of perfection and completeness. God never down played the importance of the number, because it was the number of God. It is a carrier of God’s mysteries. It pleased God that, the Seventh man from Adam – Enoch sh
