SING TO THE LORD A NEW SONG

THE DAILY FOUNTAIN DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF THE CHURCH OF NIGERIA (ANGLICAN COMMUNION)

DATE: FRIDAY, 13TH MAY, 2022

TOPIC: SING TO THE LORD A NEW SONG

TEXT: PSALM 96:1-3

1. Oh, sing to the LORD a new song! Sing to the LORD, all the earth.

2. Sing to the LORD, bless His name; Proclaim the good news of His salvation from day to day.

3. Declare His glory among the nations, His wonders among all peoples.

MESSAGE:

The Psalmist here invites each one of us to sing a new song to the Lord. The reasons for singing, the content of the song, and the manner of singing it are highlighted in the text. Verses 4-6 show about 6 reasons why we should praise God: Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised (v.4).

The Lord created the heavens, while what people call “gods” are really man-made idols (v.5). Can you itemise the others? The content of the new song to the Lord consists of words declaring who God is, what He does and His supremacy over all. These declarations are to be accompanied with offerings and various forms of worship (vs. 7-9). The heavens and the earth with its vegetation and the seas are invited to participate in this universal worship (vs. 11-13; Psalm 19:1).Let us learn to praise God at all times and under all circumstances. Let us praise Him when we are at the mountain top and all things are bright and beautiful, and also when we “walk through the valley of the shadow of death” (Psalm 23:4).

PRAYER:

O God, I praise You for I am fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14).

EXCERPTS FROM: 24/7 WARFARE PRAYERS AND SUPERNATURAL BREAKTHROUGH MANUAL

INTRODUCTION Right from childhood, the number “SEVEN” has always been an intrigue, an interesting puzzle, a fascination, and a great phenomenon to me. I was actually born on the seventh day of the month; perhaps this was one of the reasons why something leaps inside of me whenever I see the number. But as I grew up in the Christian faith I began to see a regular reference to it the scriptures. I was kind of saying, whoa! Holy bliss! Seven occurs 257 times, or 7 × 41 Seventh, the fractional part occurs 98 times or 7× 14 Seven –fold occurs 7 times. Seventy occurs 56 times or 7× 8 “Seventy” in combination with other numbers occurs 35 times or 7× 5. God is pleased to stamp the number “Seven” with the seal of perfection and completeness.
