THE POWER OF FAITH

THE DAILY FOUNTAIN DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF THE CHURCH OF NIGERIA (ANGLICAN COMMUNION)

DATE: FRIDAY, 9TH SEPTEMBER, 2022

TOPIC: THE POWER OF FAITH

TEXT: ROMANS 9:30-33

30.  What shall we say then? That Gentiles, who did not pursue righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness of faith;

31.  but Israel, pursuing the law of righteousness, has not attained to the law of righteousness.

32.  Why? Because [they did] not [seek it] by faith, but as it were, by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumbling stone.

33.  As it is written: "Behold, I lay in Zion a stumbling stone and rock of offense, And whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame."

MESSAGE:

The great contrast according to our text today is that the Israelites who sought for righteousness could not find it, while the Gentiles who never followed after righteousness realised it. The difference between their approaches is that the former sought to have it by the works of the law, while the later depended on faith in Christ Jesus. The righteousness of man is nothing but a filthy rag before God (Isa. 64:6). If man could bring himself to righteousness by his efforts, Jesus Christ would not have come in human form and experienced humiliation in the hands of they that He came to save.

As good as morality and legality are, they are not sufficient for the salvation of man. Simple faith in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ attracts the grace of salvation to any heart that cares. Have you tried to make it on your own to no avail? You are simply on the wrong track. Believe in the Lord Jesus’ death as the ultimate price for the sins of man. Confess your weakness to Him by faith and ask Him to impute to you the righteousness of God. For sure, He will.

PRAYER:

Father, lead me in the path of righteousness through the grace in Jesus which comes by faith. Amen.

EXCERPTS FROM: 24/7 WARFARE PRAYERS AND SUPERNATURAL BREAKTHROUGH MANUAL

INTRODUCTION Right from childhood, the number “SEVEN” has always been an intrigue, an interesting puzzle, a fascination, and a great phenomenon to me. I was actually born on the seventh day of the month; perhaps this was one of the reasons why something leaps inside of me whenever I see the number. But as I grew up in the Christian faith I began to see a regular reference to it the scriptures. I was kind of saying, whoa! Holy bliss! Seven occurs 257 times, or 7 × 41 Seventh, the fractional part occurs 98 times or 7× 14 Seven –fold occurs 7 times. Seventy occurs 56 times or 7× 8 “Seventy” in combination with other numbers occurs 35 times or 7× 5. God is pleased to stamp the number “Seven” with the seal of perfection and completeness. God never down played the importance of the number, because it was the number of God. It is a carrier of God’s mysteries. It pleased God that, the Seventh man from Adam – Enoch sh
